About the Nursery

DSC01074_edited.jpg

Dry Earth Nursery (DEN) specializes in drought-tolerant plants native to Western North America, specifically Southern Oregon and Northern California. Think of this as being the "non-exclusive" focus of the nursery since a few particularly special non-natives might find their way into the inventory from time to time.

Here at DEN, I offer plants to the local community that can support native pollinators while reducing the need for water in our landscapes. Dry-scaped gardens can be truly amazing spaces for both the humans and wildlife who enter them.

The nursery is located at the northernmost point of the California Floristic Provence in the Rogue Valley of Southwestern Oregon.

At the moment, DEN plants can be found at various local plant sales, such as the spring and fall Pollinator Project Rogue Valley Native Plant Sales.

Shipping is not available. Someday I hope to have that capacity!

About me!

My name is Kyle Poling. I grew up in the high desert of Northern Arizona but moved to Southwest Oregon in 2012 and became captivated by this region's unique flora. Growing plants has always been a passion of mine tracing back to my first job in high school as an employee for our little town's hardware store nursery.

Since those early days of selling Lilacs and Petunias, I've learned the importance of native plants and their role in local ecosystems. As I started to try and find plants for my own garden, I realized there was a gap in the market for these plants that would cater to home gardeners rather than large-scale restoration projects. Growing and sharing plants brings me great joy so building a nursery was the natural next step.

Thank you so much for considering DEN as a source for your garden's plants, and I hope to see you at a local plant sale soon!
